Yangon to Pyay (Irrawaddy Introduction Cruise)
01 September 2010: Yangon to Maubin (Lunch/Dinner) Embark on the RV Mahaythi at your convenience at Hledan Bridge No.2 Jetty. At 1000 we depart the cruise journey passing along the Twante Canal constructed during the British colonial rule in 1881 and opened in 1883 that connects the Ayeyarwady River (Irrawaddy River) and the Yangon River. Visit Twante which is a small rural town that specializes in pot making. Then sailing to Maubin with the sunset time.
02 September 2011: Maubin to Nyaungdone (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
After breakfast, visit to a fishing pound located near Maubin by small speed boats. And witness the local ways of fishing which is known as "Inn Business". Afternoon, continue sailing to Nyaungdone.
03 September 2011: Nyaungdone - Danuphyu - Zalun (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Morning, continue sunrise cruise to Danuphyu - which was a famous defense headquarter of Myanmar General Maha Bandoola to stop the British attacks to lower Myanmar and is also the place the general was killed in 1825 during the battles. If the time and local transport is available, we will be visiting the Danuphyu Fort. Then, continue sailing to Zalun.
04 September 2011: Zalun to Shwekyin (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Morning visit Zalun Pyidawpyan or The Image That Returned to the Native land which is the place for Myanmar Buddhists a visit to Zalun is a holy pilgrimage. It also is a source of national pride, for the principal Buddha Image with the title, The Noble Mahn Aung Myin Buddha, at Zalun is believed to be endowed with extraordinary strength and powers. It is enshrined in a large temple with a golden Stupa rising from the center of the roof. Then, we continue cruise to Shwekyin.
05 September 2011: Shwekyin to Tayoke Hmaw (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Morning continue upstream sailing along Ayeyarwady River (Irrawaddy River) till we reach to Tayoke Hmaw - which was a hiding places for the Bagan's last King - King Narathihapateh also known as "Tayone Pyay Min - King running away from Chinese". Evening will take a walk around the village.
06 September 2011: Tayoke Hmaw - Akauktaung - Kyithe (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Morning continue sailing to Kyithe - a big traditional local village with big local style wooden houses located on the eastern bank of Irrawaddy River. On the way, we will stop at Akauktaung (Custom's Mountain) which was the point that collected taxes for the trading vessels sailing along the River in the past centuries. One can witness the Buddha's images curved by the old day officials on the river bank.
07 September 2011: Kyithe - Myoma - Shwetaung - Pyay (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Morning, visit famous Shwenat Taung Pagoda which was believed to be built by the people and the spirits alternatively according to the legends. Then, continue to Myoma - a village of the Sri Ksetra Queen to join back the cruise again. Then, continue sailing to Shwetaung. Visit Shwetaung Shwe Myat Hman (the Buddha Immage with Glasses) Pagoda. Continue to Pyay - Thiri-ya-kittiya (Sri Ksetra) "City of Splendour" in Sanskrit). The British Irrawaddy Flotilla Company established the current town in the late 1800s on the Ayeyarwady River (Irrawaddy River) as a transshipment point for cargo between Upper and Lower Burma.
08 September 2011: Sightseeing Pyay (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Morning, visit the 5th-8th century archaeological site of Thiri-ya-kittiya (Sri Ksetra), former centre of the Pyu civilization with a fascinating museum of early Buddhist artifacts and sculpture.
09 September 2011: Pyay to Yangon or Bagan (Breakfast/Lunch)
Disembark and transfer to Yangon or Bagan (included in cost of cruise) for drop at your designated hotel.
